Precision audio and custom-built lighting for London’s most exclusive new underground club

Gallery Club, London

Gallery Club London, located just moments from High Street Kensington station, is the latest venue from the founders of the hugely successful B London. Known for its blend of house music pedigree, high-end hospitality, and four distinct nightlife spaces, Gallery was quickly being hailed as West London’s most exclusive new clubbing destination.

MSL were brought in to deliver something extraordinary: a full lighting and audio system that would rival anything seen in London, all while navigating the technical constraints of a low-ceilinged underground venue located directly beneath a hotel.

About the Venue

Gallery features four unique areas:

  • Cubanista: a moody, Latin-inspired cocktail lounge with its own DJ booth
  • Main Club Room: featuring a 10-tonne concrete DJ booth and quad-array dancefloor sound
  • Secret Studio Room: an immersive, late-night hideaway with surround sound
  • Carlo’s Pizzeria: a hidden late-night pizza bar serving authentic Neapolitan recipes

With its all-star ownership team (including Carlo Carello, Steve Manktelow and Jake Parkinson-Smith) and a launch night that featured house music legend Bob Sinclair, Gallery Club London was always destined for high expectations. Our job was to help it exceed them.

The Project

We were tasked with designing and delivering both the audio and lighting systems for the club, from the ground up. The brief was clear: think beyond the ordinary. Avoid off-the-shelf thinking. Create something immersive and bespoke.

After an initial meeting on-site, we immediately connected with the client’s vision and enthusiasm. We were given complete trust to develop a system that balanced elite performance with refined aesthetics, all while overcoming the very real challenge of working in a space with extremely low ceilings (~7ft) and strict acoustic considerations (the club sits directly beneath a hotel).

The Challenges

Ceiling height: With less than seven feet of vertical space in areas, traditional club loudspeakers were not an option.

Acoustic sensitivity: The club is located beneath a hotel, requiring precise tuning and careful zoning to manage audio leakage.

Discretion and immersion: The brief demanded powerful sound without visible clutter — creating immersion without hardware dominating the visual space.

The Solution: Full d&b audiotechnik Sound System

Rather than go big, we went smart — creating a fully distributed audio system using compact d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers and subs throughout all areas. The result is a space where guests feel immersed in crystal-clear, powerful sound, no matter where they are in the club.

Lighting: Bespoke Fixtures, Custom Creativity

In keeping with the venue’s ambition to offer something completely unique, we collaborated with the client to design a fully bespoke lighting system, including a standout ceiling feature built specifically for us – to our specification.

  • 500x500mm ceiling-mounted pixel panels (8 continuous beams each)
  • Custom-programmed with Madrix pixel-mapping software
  • Quartz lighting control console
  • Feature lasers and effects throughout

This isn’t catalogue lighting. It’s design-led, immersive atmosphere built exclusively for Gallery.

Training, Support & Calibration

Given the club’s location beneath a hotel, system tuning was mission critical. We used d&b ArrayCalc to simulate the room and configure the distributed system with millimetre precision. All audio zones were limited, levelled and zoned to balance performance with sound containment.

We provided full training and continue to support the venue — ensuring the system operates with simplicity on the surface and power behind the scenes.

Why Middlesex Sound & Lighting?

Gallery came to us by recommendation, but the partnership was forged through trust. From day one, we aligned on vision, energy, and ambition. Our approach — creative, hands-on, technically meticulous — helped the client realise something genuinely different.

Every detail, from concrete booth integration to pixel-perfect lighting, was designed to reflect the experience-first DNA of the venue.
