Designing the best competitive socialising venue in the world: 40,000 sq. ft of world-class AV at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip

Swingers, Las Vegas

This case study explores how we delivered the largest project in our 41-year history: a full audiovisual installation at Swingers Las Vegas, set inside the iconic Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. From immersive sound and lighting to precision projection mapping, this project pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in entertainment AV.

About Swingers

Swingers is a bold and imaginative take on competitive socialising, combining world-class cocktails, premium hospitality, and crazy golf with an experience-led atmosphere. The concept was created by Matt Grech-Smith and Jeremy Simmonds, launching as a pop-up in 2014 before establishing its first permanent venue in London in 2016. Since then, Swingers has grown to include sites in Oxford Circus, Washington D.C., Manhattan, and most recently, Las Vegas — its largest and most ambitious venue to date.

We’ve worked in close partnership with Swingers since day one. With every new location, we’ve evolved and refined the AV experience — always balancing a premium aesthetic with cutting-edge performance. The Las Vegas venue would be the ultimate test: a 40,000 sq. ft transformation of the former LIGHT nightclub into what the client described as “the best competitive socialising venue in the world.”

The Project

Swingers Las Vegas features four 9-hole golf courses, multiple bars, a fairground-style Carnival games arcade, and a 1920s-style English country house – which acts as the visual and experiential centrepiece of the venue.
This site demanded more than replication of previous templates; it required reinvention at scale. The challenge was to deliver a full audiovisual system that would:

  • Elevate the brand experience to match Las Vegas expectations
  • Handle a constantly moving audience and open-plan design
  • Provide consistent, immersive audio coverage across 21 zones
  • Support live performance, corporate events, and ambient use cases
  • Integrate seamlessly with projection, pixel lighting, and display systems
  • Be simple to operate despite its complexity under the hood

We were tasked with the complete package: sound, lighting, projection mapping, video, control systems, infrastructure and remote support. All within a tight timeframe and across an international logistics chain.

The Challenges

Transforming the vast open atrium of the old LIGHT nightclub into an intimate, immersive Swingers space came with unique challenges:

  • Audio coverage: The height and openness of the venue meant traditional speaker placement was insufficient. We needed a system that created intimacy and clarity across different volumes and use cases.
  • Projection precision: The country house facade required pixel-perfect projection mapping, interacting with architectural features without breaking the illusion.
  • Noise isolation: With Mandalay Bay operating adjacent venues, careful audio design and isolation mounting was essential.
  • Simplicity of control: Despite the complexity, the system had to be operable by staff with minimal technical training.

The Solution

We delivered a fully integrated AV solution, drawing on our long-standing brand templates but expanding them in every dimension to meet the scale and ambition of the venue.

Training, Support, and Operation

This was never a ‘fit and forget’ project. We remain deeply embedded in the day-to-day operation of the venue.

Our approach focused on powerful simplicity: from a control perspective, the entire venue can be opened with just two buttons. Behind that lies meticulous presetting and sequencing across 24 audio zones, projection, lighting, and displays.

We provided initial training and on-site support through the opening period, and continue to offer remote support and content management. We also assist Swingers with branded projection content and seasonal updates across the venue.

Why Middlesex Sound & Lighting?

This wasn’t our first Swingers venue – and it won’t be our last. Our long-standing partnership with the team has been built over a decade of shared creative vision and technical trust.

From early design consultancy through to on-site execution, we’re proud to have been the go-to partner for every venue in the brand’s journey so far.

Customer Satisfaction

“MSL were the perfect partner on this ambitious project, bringing incredible creativity and a vast technical expertise to the table. MSL’s unique contribution is a huge part of the venue’s massive success.”

– Swingers Co-founder Jeremy Simmonds

With the venue now live, our relationship with Swingers continues. As they evolve the brand, introduce new experiences, and scale to new cities, we remain at their side – helping ensure every visitor walks into something unforgettable.
